May be sometime you accidently dropyour phone into water or water might just spill over your phone. You might panic with the fear of losing your mobile, along with important data. But you don’t worry. Just follow a few simple steps and save your mobile from crashing. Before learning what to do when your phone falls in water, it is important to know what not to do.
Don’ts:
- Do not turn on your mobile.
- Do not press any buttons or keys except to switch off your mobile immediately.
- Do not shake, tap or bang your mobile phone.
- Do not try to open your mobile unless you are a technical expert.
- Do not blow it because by blowing water might reach into other internal parts causing more damage to your phone.
- Do not try to dry it with a blow dry.
Do’s:
- Immediately switch off your mobile.
- Remove the mobile cover, battery, SIM and micro SD (memory card).
- Dab and dry your phone using tissue paper, paper towel or any piece of cloth.
- If the mobile immersed completely in water then the damage could be more. In such a case carefully sue a vacuum cleaner to suck out the water properly from all joints and cracks.
- Rice is a great absorbent. Fill a zip-lock bag with rice and bury the damaged phone in it. You can use a phone drying bag, designed especially for this purpose, if you have one.
- Leave your phone to dry in the bag for a few days.
- After few days, now you can remove your mobile from the pouch and insert the battery. Now you can switch on your mobile.
- If your phone doesn’t start, do not worry, just charge the battery and try again. If the battery doesn’t charge then you need to replace the battery and check. If still it doesn’t work you need to take to a mobile repair expert.
Observe your phone for few more days even if it starts and also check its speakers and other features. If you see some problem in the performance of your phone you must seek professional help at a good mobile repair center.
